BAD LUCK, GOOD LUCK, BAD LUCK – Bill Lubbock

Joint winner of the 2017 Elmbridge Literary Competition: Short Story (Adult) category.

Bill Lubbock, a Chartered Psychologist and committed Christian, was a prolific and enthusiastic short story writer in his later years.  He died on 2 September 2017, aged 90, leaving a wife, Margaret, and two children.  Bill had a marvellous sense of fun and had already written his own eulogy and a somewhat alternative Christmas 2017 letter ‘just in case’.

The Elmbridge Literary Competition was established by The RC Sherriff Trust, an independent arts charity working in the Borough of Elmbridge and Elmbridge Borough Council. Previous competitions have included subjects as varied as Dickens, fantasy, love and short radio plays. In celebration of its thirteenth year, the theme for the 2017 Competition was ‘Luck’.    Full details about competitions past, present and future are available at
